What Are We Learning
Math
•Students will develop the knowledge and skills essential to achieving mathematical proficiency.
Science
•Students will develop knowledge and skills essential to becoming literate in science, technology and engineering.
Social Studies
•Students will develop the knowledge and skills essential to developing a balanced and integrated understanding of systems of culture, economics, geography, politics and the history of their development.
Reading
•Students will develop the knowledge and skills essential to becoming literate, thoughtful communicators capable of controlling language. They will learn to read sight words and begin reading short readers. They will be able to identify story elements, and they will be able to identify parts of non-fiction texts.

Writing
Students will have the chance to take part in Writer’s Workshop at least 4 times a week. They will be introduced to the different tools that a writer uses, as well as the writing process. They will have the chance to collaborate with classmates to revise their writing. Students will write teaching books and they will write narratives about their lives. Students will have writing celebrations throughout the year to celebrate their hard work in Writer’s Workshop.
